As if eight albums in five years wasn’t enough, Australia’s favourite psych rock rollickers are back again with their ninth and have hinted at another four full-lengths for next year.

Rattlesnake is the first taste of the forthcoming LP Flying Microtonal Banana which gets part of its name from a new exploration into microtonal tuning. Featuring intervals smaller than a semitone, the art is not found in customary Western tuning octaves.

It’s no surprise that the seven-piece are further extending their sound, given their propensity for adventure and treachery, having explored almost every genre across their discography. Buoyed by a helter skelter riff, Rattlesnake mixes their garage sound from Nonagon Infinity with dabbles of their I’m In Your Mind Fuzz psychedelia.

King Gizzard will unleash on the Luna Park’s Big Top for Gizzfest on Tuesday November 29. Tickets available via Oztix.
