Mark Wahlberg has grown a seedy moustache, which means he’s either doing a Boogie Nights sequel or that’s his new look for the Uncharted movie.

We’ve now seen what Tom Holland looks like as Nathan Drake in the upcoming film adaptation of Uncharted (he looks pretty convincing as the dashing treasure hunter even though he’s missing the all-important half-tuck) and now we may have seen what Mark Wahlberg looks like as Victor “Sully” Sullivan in the movie.

Now for those who are not across Uncharted, Victor Sullivan is the older mentor of Nathan Drake and is known for his love of cigars and his porn star-esque moustache.

Going back to Marky Mark, the actor has taken to Instagram to show off a new addition to his face: a seedy as hell moustache.

For comparison’s sake, here’s a side-by-side of Wahlberg and Sully:

Not gonna lie, it actually doesn’t look half bad and Wahlberg actually makes for a pretty convincing younger Sully. Okay, it’s perhaps not as finely shaped as Sully’s magnificent ‘stache but not a bad job from Wahlberg here.

Now Wahlberg didn’t actually say that he grew the moustache for Uncharted (he only says “don’t ask!” repeatedly in his Instagram post) and that means there could be two reasons for why he did it: it’s for Uncharted or it’s for a Boogie Nights sequel.

Given how a Boogie Nights sequel will never happen, we can probably safely assume that it’s for Uncharted.

Interestingly though, Wahlberg was spotted without any facial hair at all back in September when he was filming Uncharted with Holland.

This in turn bring up a new question: will Uncharted tell the origin stories of both Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake and Sully’s glorious facial hair?

Guess we’ll just have to wait until July 2021 (barring any delays) to see how Sully’s moustache came to be in Uncharted.
