McDonald’s has kicked 2021 off with a bang with the announcement that it is finally adding onion rings to its menu.

That’s right, McDonald’s will be serving individual onion rings, as well as two new burgers featuring the tasty treat.

From Wednesday, January 20th, fast-food fans can chow down on both the Crispy BBQ McOz and the Aussie Angus burgers.

“For the first time ever, we’ll be serving-up golden onion rings at restaurants across the country. Made from Australian onions, this new addition to our menu will be accompanied by a Southern BBQ Sauce,” McDonald’s Australian marketing manager Amanda Nakad said in a statement (via news.com.au).

“Our onion rings will also be served on the all-new Aussie Angus burger, combined with 100 per cent Australian Angus beef and bacon as well as cheese to create a delicious burger we know our customers will enjoy,” she said.

Meanwhile, the OG McOz burger – which typically includes beef, egg, beetroot, tomato, lettuce, cheese and onions – will now feature crispy onions, southern BBQ sauce and beetroot.

Although it is not yet known exactly how long the latest additions will be sticking around, Nakad confirmed they will only be available for a “limited time”.

The new arrivals seem to be serving as a replacement for the McRib and El Maco burgers, which were resurrected back in December.

While the two burgers have once again left the menu as of Tuesday, January 19th, we certainly expect the new onion rings range will help fill the void.

On top of that, Macca’s latest limited-time dessert, the mini Nutella hotcakes, will remain available until Tuesday, February 16th.

As always, I will continue to live in hope that McDonald’s will one day bring back Mozzarella sticks.
