Watch out gamers, Netflix is coming for you. The streaming platform has announced the launch of Netflix Games, a fledgling gaming service.
Clearly not content just settling for being the go-to place for mindless TV watching, Netflix wants to be the home for gaming when you’re bored too. The idea for a gaming section on the platform had long been rumoured and now it’s finally here.
Starting this week on Thursday, November 4th, games will be provided inside the standard Netflix experience. As it’s just being rolled out, in its current version Netflix Games will only be available on Android devices within the app. Luckily, it will be available in any country that has Netflix.
The service is starting up with five games on offer:
Stranger Things: 1984 (BonusXP), in which you join Hopper and the kids for missions around Hawkins.
Stranger Things 3: The Game (BonusXP), a beat ’em up game based on the show’s third season.
Shooting Hoops (Frosty Pop), a classic basketball game.

Card Blast (Amuzo & Rogue Games), a poker experience perfect for the casual player.
Teeter (Up) (Frosty Pop), a tense game in which you fight the laws of gravity to try to guide a ball into a hole.
Netflix confirmed that more games will be arriving as they continue to roll out Netflix Games to more platforms so be on the lookout for updates. So while only five games might not sound like much at the moment, with the wealth of original content that Netflix has, that amount should increase very quickly.
I mean, they’ll definitely want to take advantage with a Squid Game video game as soon as possible. Wouldn’t it be lovely to play a pixelated version of the intense survival competition without the imminent threat of death hanging over you?
