The most spectacular piece of memorabilia in film history sold today. The supple, silky rattail sported by Ewan McGregor in Star Wars Episode I: A Phantom Menace has just sold for a very reasonable $3,000.

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s iconic, teensy braided rattail, is, in its essence, the crux of the Star Wars series. An anonymous hero paid a humble $3,100 for the divine creation. Which seems like an absolutely fucking steal when you consider that a lock of Justin Bieber’s hair was once flogged for $40,668.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi sported his Padawan braid throughout the film to signify the rank he had reached in his Jedi apprentice training,” the auction listing for the item read.

“Originally from the collection of hair stylist Sue Love, who worked on several notable productions, including the Star Wars franchise and Withnail & I, the long braid is made from brown synthetic hair and features two bands of red thread and two bands of faux-gold thread.

“Different coloured bands would be added to these whenever a Padawan progressed in their training. The braid shows signs of production use, including glue remnants at the top, minor wear and loose strands of thread.”

We just hope that whoever copped this steal has the chutzpah, nautica and TNs to pull it off.

Last month it was revealed that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is set to link up with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy to develop a brand new Star Wars film.

The news comes as the franchise gets ready for the launch of episode 9 The Rise Of Skywalkeras well as the forthcoming Mandalorian spin-off, to be released on forthcoming Disney+ streaming service.
