Remember the food poisoning scene from Bridesmaids? You’ve probably tried to forget. Shortly after the classic comedy’s release in 2011 – it’s hard to imagine that film being over a decade old – one of its stars, Rebel Wilson, went through a very similar situation in real life.

The Aussie actress made the comical revelation in a chat with Life Uncut‘s Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne. Wilson explained that she was living in a small L.A. apartment at the time – having a “down day”, she ate a “whole pizza” and consumed a two-litre bottle of Pepsi, which left her feeling “more sad and depressed.”

“I was like, ‘Why did I go and eat all of that?’ So then I thought, ‘I’m going to fix this, I’m going to go out for a walk’,” Wilson revealed to the hosts as part of their Accidentally Unfiltered segment.

“I go on the hike, and it’s uphill, and I felt very sluggish after eating, like, thousands of calories,” she continued. That’s when she got an “instant feeling” that she really needed to visit a toilet but swiftly realised that she wouldn’t be able to reach her own apartment on time.

“It hit me, it was all inside – and it just had to come out,” Wilson remembered, hilariously describing her appearance at the time as “feral.” “I’d been in the movie Bridesmaids so I wasn’t a superstar or anything, but I was kind of recognisable,” she said. “So I was in a residential street… I was trying to hold it in, but I couldn’t.”

Thinking that casually knocking on someone’s door to ask to use their facilities would be weird, Wilson came to the sad realisation that she’d “have to go in someone’s lawn.” “Then I saw this nice house… It had a nice front garden, nicely-mowed grass, and I just thought: ‘that’s the one.'”

Just as she started to squat near a bush in the yard, a car pulled up outside the house. That’s when Wilson quickly came up with a lie. “I’m still squatting on the front lawn, it’s so disgusting, so my mind goes – ‘If they come and saw something, I’m just going to scream that I’m pregnant,'” Wilson recalled.

Thankfully the driver entered the house next door and Wilson remained unseen. “So I just pulled up my pants and left,” she laughed.
