Several Australian actors were left happy after the Golden Globes nominations were announced.
Despite her casting as iconic sitcom actress Lucille Ball in Being the Ricardos being questioned, Nicole Kidman has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama.
Rising star Kodi Smith-McPhee scored a nod for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his performance in The Power of the Dog.
Succession unsurprisingly dominated the TV categories, with Adelaide-born Sarah Snook deservedly getting nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series.
Elsewhere, there weren’t as many snubs and surprises as there often is when nominations are announced. Squid Game and Succession will fight it out to be named Best Television Series, Drama. Ted Lasso should be a lock for Best Television Series, Comedy.
After THAT New Yorker profile, Succession‘s Jeremy Strong is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama. He’ll do battle with his cast mate Brian Cox and Squid Game‘s Lee Jung-jae.
Selena Gomez was the only Only Murders in the Building lead to not get a nomination, with her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short being nominated.

In the film categories, West Side Story might have been receiving rave reviews recently but its stars Rita Moreno and Ansel Elgort missed out on nominations.
House of Gucci has dominated headlines but it received only one nod, for Lady Gaga‘s performance. Adam McKay’s buzzy new film Don’t Look Up didn’t receive much love either, with Meryl Streep even missing out on a nomination for her performance as the U.S. President.
