Despite being one of Australia’s highest paid reality TV influencers, Skye Wheatley says her YouTube revenue is a little down in the dumps.

Skye Wheatley is allegedly one of Australia’s highest paid reality TV celebrities, but it seems YouTube has little to do with the cash she brings in for herself. Earlier in January, So Dramatic! revealed that Wheatley charged $3,163.75 per Instagram post. Her YouTube earnings, of her own admission, aren’t very substantial.

In a recent Q&A with fans, Wheatley revealed that despite having 250,000 subscribers on her YouTube, she only earned about $100 from ad revenue. We aren’t sure whether this is her earnings on average or total, since she only mentioned that this was her last payment, and YouTube earnings depend significantly on the number of views.

“Last payment I got was $100, I’m pretty sure but that’s because I don’t have high views. The more views, the more you get paid, basically,” Skye said.

To be clear, this is only ad revenue that she’s talking about. This is removed from Wheatley’s branded partnerships, which would give her additional income for endorsements.

Wheatley has been a fixture in the news recently, but for less savoury reasons than one might expect. The reality star accrued a lot of backlash after posting a video of the recent Seaworld helicopter crash on her social media.

Wheatley posted a video zooming into the crash site – which ended up claiming four lives – and said: “Guys a helicopter just crashed right on that sandbank. Three people have died and two people are severely injured.”

People on the internet slammed the star for posting videos of the incident, claiming it showed a lack of empathy. Shortly after, Wheatley announced that she’d take a break from social media, but returned soon after to post pictures of her children.

“Can everyone please pray with me for the families affected by yesterday’s devastating events, I feel sick to my stomach today and I am praying for everyone in hospital.” She said.

She added: “[I’m] taking the day off social media, counting my blessings and want to be present with family… I know a lot of families are hurting badly today and I’m sending them all my love and prayers.”
