This grand success has understandably gained a lot of attention from the big wigs in Hollywood.

Former Disney CEO Bob Iger congratulated Tom Holland over Twitter on Christmas day:

The ‘discussion’ that Iger is referring to is a phone call between Holland and himself after the contract between Sony Pictures and Disney fell apart. This meant that Holland’s Spider-Man could no longer be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Spider-Man’s involvement in the MCU is one of its highlights. The departure understandably left fans devastated, but also Tom Holland.

As the story goes, after a few pints, Holland ended up on the phone to Iger pleading with him to come to an agreement with Sony. According to Iger, Holland wept about how important he felt it was for Spidey to be in the MCU.

Though it’s not clear if this was the turning point, Disney and Sony did eventually come to an agreement.

And considering how fat the wallets at Sony just got: Lucky they listened to Holland.

After the most recent trilogy came to a close, fears once again rose that Holland’s MCU involvement might be over.

But, speaking to The New York Times, it seems everyone is in agreement that keeping Holland happy is best for everyone.

“We have a great partnership” says Amy Pascal, Sony producer of No Way Home. “I hope it lasts forever”.

To reassure fans, Marvel producer Kevin Fiege confirmed they were working on the next one. “I don’t want fans to go through any separation trauma like what happened”

It seems like Tom Holland will still be Spidey and fighting alongside The Avengers for the foreseeable future.
