I think we all need to collectively make the executive decision to start treating Thursday evenings like Friday nights. We need to start being honest with ourselves and admit that productivity levels on a Friday are next to non-existent. There’s a clear-cut behavioural pattern: it’s Friday morning, 8AM, you’ve only just woken up. There’s no way you’re going to get to the office on time unless you beeline it to an Uber. You’re not going to catch an Uber because it’ll end up costing your entire hourly wage. You and the rest of your exhausted coworker’s band together in a symphony of Slack notification, letting the office thread know that you’re “running half an hour late ? Sydney public transport huh!”. It hits midday and you’ve decided you’ve earned a long lunch. You accidentally sink a pint of Carlton and all hopes of catching that 5:30 pm Yoga class are out the window. It’s all a colossal right off.
It’s these trappings that have led to the revelation that we may as well just write ourselves off completely on Thursday’s. We may as well commit to being completely and totally useless, then only half useless. This is your life and it’s ending one minute at a time etc etc etc. So start embracing Thursday’s as the new Fridays and suck the marrow out of life.
