Sunday will see a massive disruption in Sydney’s public transport services as the Epping to Chatswood train line shuts down for seven months. The line and it’s stations will be undergoing necessary upgrades for the Sydney Metro.

NSW Transport has organised a new “high frequency, turn-up-and-go Station Link bus service” which will replace the trains until they re-open next year. With the changes affecting over 20,000 commuters there are fears that the extra buses will result in higher traffic build-up and confusion.

Ryde Mayor Jerome Laxale told the ABC that he believes the roads will not be able to cope with the additional traffic. Upgrades to roads and intersections have been made, but many believe it will not be enough to stop congestion, especially around the Macquarie park precinct.
