As Brooklyn Nine-Nine gears up for its eighth and final season, Terry Crews has opened up about the cast’s feelings as they say goodbye to the iconic comedy.

Crews, who plays Lieutenant Terry Jeffords on the hit series, also dished some deets as to what we can expect in B99’s final season.

Crews told ET while on the red carpet at the world premiere of Space Jam: A New Legacy: “It’s going to be intense, it’s going to be lovely, it’s gonna be fun.

“We’ve been in tears because we finished it. It’s [been] eight seasons of joy.”

“You’re gonna laugh your head off,” Crews added, explaining that the show’s last season will feature “a lot of unexpected wonderful things,” and that he feels it’s “literally the perfect, perfect way to end it.”

According to Variety, along with Crews, the main cast members are all set to return to say goodbye to the 99.

The ensemble consists of Andy Samberg (Jake Peralta), Andre Braugher (Captain Raymond Holt), Melissa Fumero (Amy Santiago), Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa Diaz), Joe Lo Truglio (Charles Boyle), Joel McKinnon Miller (Scully), and Dirk Blocker (Hitchcock).

Miller and Blocker were promoted to series regulars in Season 6 following the departure of Chelsea Peretti – aka the fabulous Gina Linetti aka the human form of the 100 emoji.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine originally ran for five seasons on Fox before it was cancelled, but after fans petitioned to bring the show back, NBC picked it up for a sixth season that aired in 2019, and the seventh season which aired in 2020.

In February this year, it was announced that the show’s eighth series would be its last, with executive producer Dan Goor saying amid the news: “I’m so thankful to NBC and Universal Television for allowing us to give these characters and our fans the ending they deserve.

“When Mike Schur and I first pitched the pilot episode to Andy, he said, ‘I’m in, but I think the only way to tell this story is over exactly 153 episodes,’ which was crazy because that was exactly the number Mike and I had envisioned.

“I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with this amazing cast and crew for eight seasons. They are not only among the most talented people in the business, they are all good human beings who have become a family.

“But most of all, I feel lucky that we have had the best fans in the world. Fans who literally saved us from cancellation. Fans who fill us with joy. Ending the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately, we felt it was the best way to honour the characters, the story and our viewers.

He continued: “I know some people will be disappointed it’s ending so soon, but honestly, I’m grateful it lasted this long. Title of my sex tape.”

The eighth and final season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine premieres on August 12.
