The title for the upcoming Matrix 4 has apparently leaked and if it is legit, it offers up an idea on what the deal is with Neo.
So we’ve gotten some hints on what fans can expect from the recently-completed Matrix 4 project, such as how it’ll be an “inspiring love story” according to Keanu Reeves, how it’ll involve a freshly shaven Neo, and how it’ll star new faces like Jessica Henwick, Watchman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Neil Patrick Harris.
But the big question that remains is how on earth is Neo back for a fourth go around given that he, you know, was sent to the pearly machine gates at the end of The Matrix Revolutions.
Well if the supposed leaked title for The Matrix 4 is to be believed, Neo is apparently resurrected for the new film.
A makeup artist who worked on The Matrix 4 shared a now-deleted post to Instagram that inadvertently revealed that the new film is titled The Matrix Resurrections.

Now it’s best to take this with a Zion-sized mountain of salt but it does sort of explain why Neo is back, not to mention how Resurrections sort of ties in with how the character is sort of the Jesus character of the series.
Except that instead of rising from the dead after three days he took 18 or so years.
Anyway, Screen Rant reached out to Warner Bros. about this The Matrix 4 title leak and the official word from the studio is that the film currently remains untitled.
Make of all this as you will.
With The Matrix 4 penciled in for a tentative December 2021 release date, here’s hoping we find out more info about the film sooner rather than later – and for it to actually come out as planned rather than be repeatedly delayed like so many other blockbusters.
