Earlier this year HBO announced that a prequel film to the cult show The Sopranos was in the works. The prequel, ‘The Many Saints Of Newark’ will be directed by Alan Taylor.

Alan Taylor has previously directed nine episodes of The Sopranos —one of which he won an Emmy for—as well as episodes of Game of Thrones and Mad Men.

It is reported that The Many Saints Of Newark will take place in the 1960s “when riots swept through Newark, New Jersey and conflicts between African-American and Italian residents were at their worst.”

The script was written by the shows original creator David Chase and series’ writer Lawrence Konner.

We can’t be sure how many of the beloved series characters will appear in the prequel.
