The Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie “beef” has rumbled on, with Spider-Man mocking his Marvel mate for their lack of chemistry.
After the overwhelming success of Spider-Man: No Way Home (which Rolling Stone Australia readers named as the best movie of 2021), Holland has swung right back into business in promoting Uncharted.
The action-adventure adaptation of the iconic video game series of the same name stars Zendaya’s partner and Mark Wahlberg as Nathan “Nate” Drake and Victor “Sully” Sullivan respectively, two fortune hunters on a mission to locate some long-lost gold.
While doing press for the forthcoming movie, Holland managed to find time to take another light-hearted jibe at Mackie (as per Reddit). “This film, the relationship between Nate and Scully is really the heart and soul of the film,” he says to the audience in the clip. “And, you know, there is nothing worse as an actor than forcing chemistry.”
When the compere then asks Holland if that’s ever happened to him, his answer is immediate. “Yeah,” he says as the audience begins to laugh already in recognition, “Have you ever heard of Anthony Mackie?”
The comments section was filed with eager MCU fans hoping that future movies will pair Spider-Man and Captain America together. “If we ever see Spidey interact with the Avengers again, I would love to see Peter and Sam meet up again. They used Stan and Mackie’s IRL friendship for the Bucky/Sam dynamic, it’d be funny if they did something similar for Sam and Peter using Mackie and Holland’s dynamic,” was one popular comment.
“It’s almost nailed on that spidey will interact with the new captain America at some point in the future, and with that comes press interviews,” wrote someone else.
