I hope you’re hungry for more cinematic crossovers because we could soon be seeing one between Stranger Things and Deadpool. Seriously.
While on the Emmys red carpet, Variety spoke with Shawn Levy, the executive producer and director of Stranger Things, and he teased a Stranger Things Cinematic Universe.
Levy has now given further context to his initial comments.
“Wade Wilson can’t stand the sight of blood, unless it’s his own or his enemies. Nose- bleeds are a hard Pass. No DP/ST crossover coming, folks. Sorry my dumb joke led to misleading headlines”

“Yes, we are building out the STCU, and now that I’m spending time with [chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment] Kevin Feige, I’m learning a lot about how to manage a universe,” he revealed. “So I’m taking those skills and applying them to the STCU.”

I hope you’re prepared to see the term ‘STCU’ online a lot very soon. Levy is also helming the forthcoming third Deadpool film, and he sees potential in the two franchises joining forces.
“Funnily enough, (Deadpool actor) Ryan (Reynolds) and I were trying to figure out how in the world could we do a Deadpool–Stranger Things crossover,” he said. “We haven’t cracked it yet, but it’s on the table.”
With any Deadpool and Stranger Things crossover being a ridiculous money spinner, they should be able to crack the code.
Remember when Stranger Things was just a cute Netflix series with Winona Ryder and a whole lot of 1980s nostalgia? Little did we know it would soon become utterly inescapable.
The Duffer Brothers are already planning a spinoff series, while a stage play is also in the works. Imagine winning the Tony Award for Best Actor for playing The Demogorgon.
“Matt and Ross are an exceptionally unique talent with a vision so crisp and clear,” Ted Sarandos, co-CEO and chief content officer of Netflix, said about the STCU. “They are all about the details — it’s no accident that ‘Stranger Things’ has pierced the zeitgeist to become the epic pop culture phenomenon it is today.”
What would be the best way to do a Deadpool and Stranger Things crossover? The possibilities are endless.
