If you’ve spent the past few weeks frantically attempting to cobble together your own vegan Christmas roast, time to take a breather. Woolworths have launched an extensive, vegan Christmas range and we’re hearing rumours that Saint Nick has taken up residency in Byron Bay.

After reporting a 32% increase in demand for cruelty-free dishes, Woolies rose to the occasion. They’ve just unveiled a smorgasbord of Christmas offerings.

For $15 you can grab yourself a sumptuous vegan roast, made with soy protein and traditional Christmas herbs and spices. The roast comes with a sublime cranberry roast. They’ve also got a cracker looking vegan cauliflower and mushroom wellington which I will be cooking in advance and passing it off as a homemade delight.

Christmas isn’t Christmas without dessert. Woolies have two new cruelty-free takes on Chrimbo classics. Adding to the hallowed pud repertoire, they’ve introduced a dark chocolate & Davidson plum putting. Just concoct your own custard using their secretly-vegan custard powder and bon appétit.

You’ll also be able to satiate your hankering for a good ol’ pavalova without the palaver with their Plantitude vegan meringue nests.

It’s not just vegan’s that Woolies are looking out for. Woolies have a range of gluten-free Christmas goods for all those cursed with intolerance. The range includes mince pies, fruit cake slices, cakes, and puddings.

“The ‘flexitarian’ diet is definitely one of this year’s growing food trends, and we continue to see many of our customers swapping traditional meat and dairy for plant-based and vegan alternatives a few times each week,” Woolworths Plant-based Category Manager, Mauro Pisani shared in a statement.

“Christmas is about sharing good food with loved ones and we want to make those celebrations easier for our customers to make simple swaps that support their dietary choices.”

In other supermarket-adjacent, Christmas news: Coles recently introduced Christmas-inspired gingerbread ice cream treat to its lineup.

There are two iterations of this spiced treat. The first, a tub, that features scrumptious chunks of spiced biscuit, married with gingerbread-flavoured ice cream, and finished off with an opulent swirl of caramel. There’s also a stick option which features all the aforementioned but this time… on a stick covered in chocolate à la Magnum.
