A letter written by Mark Chapman, best remembered for the time he murdered beloved musical legend John Lennon, shows that Chapman believes Jesus is “a real, living person who I have come to know”.

Through their dealings, Chapman also learned that Jesus has forgiven him for the time he murdered beloved musical legend John Lennon.

“Twelve years ago I shot and killed the rock superstar John Lennon, formerly of the Beatles”, Chapman explains, in case the letter’s recipient was unaware of this detail. “Let me say here that it was a horrible occurrence, I have never forgotten it.”

Not the type of thing that slips your mind.

“I have come to know that he [Jesus] cares very deeply for me — and for you. This is why he chose to die, to shed his blood, so that our sins – even mine – could be forgiven. That is why he came”

The letter was purchased by an anonymous U.S. bidder for £265, from auction house Serial Killers Ink, which is a clever name.

Chapman remains behind bars, and although he has applied for parole every two years since 2000, he has been continuously denied, mainly due to the time he murdered beloved musical legend John Lennon.
