It’s the last couple days of holiday limbo, friends. Tomorrow you’ll ring in the new year and then quickly the crushing anxiety over what to do with your 2019 will sink in.

So, before that we think you deserve a laugh.

In 2018, streaming giant and our eventual overlord (probably) Netflix took it upon itself to release approximately 345,000 comedy specials.

While you might have caught the biggies like Hannah Gadsby’s shattering breakthrough Nanette or John Mulaney’s memeable Kid Gorgeous but there was still a lot of gold that fell through the cracks.

So pull up a seat, get comfy and enjoy the last laugh of 2018.

Fred Armisen: Stand-up For Drummers

You might recognise Armisen’s face from his tenure in the perfect Saturday Night Live cast of the mid to late 2000s or his and Carrie Brownstein show that killed the hipster Portlandia. In Stand-up For Drummers he gets to take centre stage with his off-kilter but still masterful impressions and slings us some of his sick drumming skills for good measure too.

Seth Rogen’s Hilarity For Charity

Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller Rogan have been putting on Hilarity For Charity shows to fight Alzheimers disease for many years but this time the gig made it to the silver screen. Featuring a legion of Rogan’s mates like Sarah Silverman and Sasha Baron Cohen, it also has an exclusive animation from Rick & Morty co-creator Justin Roiland that will satisfy any hardcore fan waiting for the next season.

Tig Notaro: Happy To Be Here

Notaro achieved legendary status after a set in 2012 that she delivered just days after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then she’s beat cancer, created a successful TV show and won an Emmy for her special Boyish Girl Interupted. Her 2018 special is a warm and funny reflection on life, marriage and fate – perfect to gather the whole family round for a wholesome laugh.

Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh

Ok, so you probably skipped this one on purpose and while that’s understandable we implore you to go back and check out this special from the Sandman. It’s dumb, for sure, with jokes about stinky Uber drivers and forgetting your wallet but there’s a delightful sincerity that makes most of the bits genuinely funny. Plus, there’s a super-sweet tribute to Sandler’s late SNL peer Chris Farley that might just have you admitting that Adam Sandler made you cry.

Ellen Degeneres: Relatable

If you’re under the age of 25 you probably only know Ellen as the perma-happy talk show host that is the queen of viral clips. However, back in the ’80s she was coming up on the stand-up scene with people like Jerry Seinfeld and she was even the first female comedian to be brought to the couch on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (trust us, it’s a big deal). She reveals more of herself than she ever has in this special, going a little dark, a little edgy and, at one point, even dropping an f-bomb.
