With its healthy mix of the mainstream and the unforgivably odd, the 27th incarnation of the festival is shaping up nicely. Zoot alors!
The 27thAlliance Francaise French Film Festival has just unveiled its jam-packed 2016 lineup. Diversity is the key to the program this time around, and films have been plucked from just about every concievable genre.
Highlights includeMicrobe And Gasoline, the new film from the vibrant imagination behindEternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind,Michel Gondry;Mon Roi, directed by one-time actress and Luc Besson’s muse Maiwenn; and a newly restored version of Jean-Luc Godard’s scintillatingContempt, which will close out the festival.
That said, the above listed films are only the tip of a very large, very French iceberg so cineastes and Europhiles alike would do well to explore the entire program, preferably with a red wine and some cheese in hand.
The Alliance Française French Film Festivalkicks off on Tuesday March 1 and continues until Thursday March 24 at Palace Norton Street, Palace Verona, Chauvel Cinema and Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace. The full program and tickets are available here.
