Nothing is worse than going to fast food restaurants with your mates, and finding that your vego ass can only eat the chips. That’s why we’re bringing you a list of the best vego eats from fast food restaurants across Australia.

How many times have your friends wanted to pop in for some fast-food eats, only for you to find that you can have exactly two items, and that’s either a side salad or chips? Well, fear no more, because we’re about to show you the best vego eats across some of the most popular fast food restaurants in Australia.

It’s a rough world when your friends are all chowing down on their burgers, fried chicken, and the likes, and you have to stick to the bare minimum. Luckily, not only do most fast food restaurants have heaps of vego eats these days, there are also a few hacks you can throw in to ensure you’re keeping your eats cruelty free whilst still filling your tum.

Subway

Alright, let’s start this list off easy. While you’re not always feeling a sandwich, Subway has made it beyond easy to get yourself a filling meal whilst sticking to a veggie diet. Not only will they slather on the avocado, but you can pile veggie upon crunch veggie on top.

Want to amp up your Subway order? Ask for it to be in a wrap, grab the veggie patty option, and then get it grilled with a bit of cheese and your choice of veggies. Also, don’t forget to ask for a heap and a half of sweet onion sauce to get the job done.

Feeling something a bit different? You can also order your sandwich as a salad with smashed felafel, feta cheese, and all the veggies your heard could ever desire. Or, if you’re anything like me, you’ll just tell yourself that their cookies are vego, and spend the entire time eating them, instead.

McDonald’s

Yeah, McDonald’s has finally rolled out a veggie burger, but it’s lacking a bit, so let us teach you how to beef up your order without adding any actual beef.

First of all, you’ll need to order one of those lacking veggie burgers, but order it with double the cheese. Then, ax the mayo, and add caramelised onions, spicy Sriracha sauce, a little squirt of BBQ sauce, and slap a hashbrown on that bad boy. Then, come back to thank me.

Craving breakfast, instead? Order a sausage, egg, and cheese McMuffin without the sausage, double the cheese, then ask for one of the packets of syrup that usually come with the hotcakes. Since Australia hasn’t come to their senses and brought the American staple McGriddle here, you’re about to make your own. And, they’re goddamn delicious.

Hungry Jack’s

Praise the lord, because Hungry Jacks doesn’t need any hacks as they’ve got some pretty bitchin’ vego eats on hand, including The Rebel Whopper – and it’ll make you rethink any veggie burger that you deemed ‘yum’ before.

Packed with the same meaty flavour you still crave, while boasting being 100% cruelty free, you can jazz this bad boy up by ordering it with onion rings on top, as well as spicy angry onions, and a good slather of barbecue sauce.

Wanting something breakfast-y, again? Well, Hungry Jack’s has you covered once more, as they’ve got a mouth-watering Vegan Avocado Muffin for you to tuck into that’s got a veggie patty, vegan cheese, avocado, and a stack of veggies.

Taco Bell

Once again, here’s another fast food restaurant that boasts a healthy flow of vego eats without you having to do many substitutions, as all of their main menu items can have beans chosen as a protein over the typical beef or chicken offerings.

If you’re keen on something that is on the fresh and healthy side, they’ve got a Cantina Power Bowl that will fuel your day. Chock full of beans, rice, veggies, guac, sour cream, and the works, it’ll fill you up with heaps of veggie power.

Wanting something that’s a bit more spicy? Grab yourself a Grilled Stuff Burrito, choose beans as your filling, and then ask for them to stuff it with jalapeños, two packets of their spicy hot sauce, and ask for some zesty ranch on the side. Then, round out the meal with grabbing some of their Cinnamon Twists.

KFC

This is where it gets a little bit tougher, because for some reason, KFC still hasn’t caught on that we want a plant-based chicken. So, you’ll have to be a bit creative, and still tuck into some side dishes.

But, since they recently brought back their Zinger Mozzarella burger, you can simply order it without the bacon, and without the Zinger, leaving you with a mountain of deep-fried mozzarella to drool over.

Wanting more? Well, there’s chips, coleslaw, and rolls to satiate your hunger, but if your friends are feeling KFC, you might want to suggest something else.

Nando’s

For a while, us vegos had to sadly miss out on a cheeky Nando’s, or simply stick with a bit of chips because there wasn’t much going for this chicken eatery. But, lucky for us, they recently unveiled their plant-based line, and now we can pop in just the same.

So, instead of just eating some chips, you can now have any time of burger or wrap by ordering it with either The Great Pretender, or a Superfood Veggie Patty. You can even get it as a salad, or a power bowl, too.

Want to make the experience complete? Choose the basting of your choice, and grab some sweet potato chips, peri-peri broccolini, and some corn to round out your meal.

Red Rooster

Just like KFC, you’ll have to stick to the sides at Red Rooster, sadly, or conjure yourself up a salads only burger or sub, as the chicken eatery doesn’t boast any mains that are vego in the slightest.

So, what’s up for grabs instead? You can whip up a hodge-podge feed of some slaw, chips, buttered peas and corn, and then wrap up the meal by tucking into a pineapple fritter or two.

Keen on having something else? Well, you might want to travel elsewhere, because your only other options are onion rings, or some dessert.
