An American chef has taken a Maccas Happy Meal box full of fries, nuggets and an apple pie and turned it into a fancy dish.
The creative meal came about when a content creator named Danny Kim asked chef Amy Brandwein to create an Italian dish with the McDonald’s ingredients.
“Hey Chef, can you turn my Happy Meal gourmet?” Brandwein asks.
To create the pommes dauphine tortellini, Brandwein started by combining flour, water, salt, milk, butter and eggs to create pasta. The chef then blends together the fries in a food processor before combining them with the pasta mixture and parmesan cheese.
Next, Brandwein blends together all of the McNuggets and filling from two apple pies. This mixture goes in the middle of the ravioli.
After that, the chef adds apple pie crust to a hot pan filled with oil and fries it. After frying the freshly made tortellini, she plates the cooked pasta with crispy apple pie crumbs and sweet and sour sauce that came with the nuggets.
While the finished product certainly looks a far cry from a McDonald’s meal, some social media users were shocked at the seemingly small portion size.
