The developers of Cyberpunk 2077 have received death threats after the game was delayed yet again for one month.

Gamers have again proven themselves to be one of the most toxic group of people after sending these death threats. The hugely-anticipated video game announced yet another delay yesterday, October 27th, angering eager fans.

The delay directly contradicted several statements from the company insisting that the game would face no more delays before its release in November. As of now, the release will be coming on December 10th instead, just before Christmas.

While the numerous delays are frustrating and fans are allowed to be upset at the situation, some fans have gone too far. They decided to send death threats, a totally rational response for an adult.

Andrzej Zawadzki, the lead game designer for Cyberpunk 2077, announced the news. He called out the unsavoury fans in a tweet, pleading for others to remain calm and take the high road instead.

According to Gamerant, the developers themselves only found out about the delay at the same time as everyone else, making the negative abuse even more ridiculous. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier said that the decision was made by some higher ups, and an email went out to employees at the same time as the tweet announcing the delay went out to the public.

Developers have been working insanely long hours to get the game ready in time for release, sometimes for 100 hours each week. It’s just a hunch, but reading death threats during their 2-minute lunch break probably isn’t making them go any faster.

Cyberpunk 2077 is adapted from the Cyberpunk franchise. The story takes place in the dystopian ‘Night City’, an open world with six distinct regions. Players assume a first-person perspective of a customisable mercenary known as ‘V’, who can acquire skills in hacking and machinery, an arsenal of ranged weapons, and also options for melee combat.
