Over a decade since first premiering the play, New Theatre is bringing back the riotous and brazenly subversive muiscal satire, Mother Clap’s Molly Houseas part of this year’s Mardi Gras celebrations.

Mark Ravenhill’s acclaimed work is being revived this February at Newtown’s New Theatre in association with the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. The play shifts deftly between timelines, paralleling the opening of a male brothel, or, molly house in London in 1726 and the disintegration of a modern gay relationship amidst the drugs and toys of a sex party, incorporating explorations of the diversity of human sexuality and family along the way.

Having originally premiered the play in 2003, the New Theatre will see director Louise Fischer breathe new life into the heartfelt and hard-hitting satire.

Mother Clap’s Molly House opens at Newtown’s New Theatreon Wednesday February 11 and runs until Saturday March 7, tickets availablehere.
