In an unexpected move, Zack Snyder is planning to reshoot Justice League nearly three years after it arrived in cinemas.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director is readying for a weeklong shoot in October. The gang is getting back together for it too. THR reports that stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) are all signed up for the reshoots.

Of those stars, it’s most surprising that Fisher is involved. The actor has endured a tense relationship with Warner Bros. ever since he accused Snyder’s replacement Joss Whedon of creating a hostile and abusive environment on-set.

Fisher also accused former executives Geoff Johns and Jon Berg of enabling Whedon’s abusive behaviour. WarnerMedia has since opened an internal investigation, though Fisher has criticized the company’s handling of that investigation and denied the studio’s claim he’s been refusing to cooperate.

Snyder had to step down from the initial project after the death of his daughter. Whedon was then hired to oversee the post-production process, including writing and directing additional scenes.

Critics were mixed upon the movie’s release, with many finding faults with the plot, pacing, and consistency. It was in the wake of its release that fans started to clamour to see Snyder’s original version.

With production as short as it is, the Justice League reshoots are unlikely to make dramatic alterations to the original plot of Snyder’s version. Expect expanded scenes and better dialogue. Much better dialogue, we hope.

These new scenes will be shot for the long-awaited Snyder Cut of the movie, which will be released on HBO Max in four instalments sometime next year.

The mythical Snyder Cut was finally confirmed back in May, with Snyder revealing that it’ll debut exclusively on HBO Max in 2021. The first trailer for it was unveiled at DC FanDome in August, with fans going typically nuts over it.
