Those who headed to IMAX cinemas for the first showings of Avatar: The Way of Water were unknowingly among the first in the world to watch the trailer for the upcoming Barbie movie.

The teaser trailer for the Greta Gerwig film shows Margot Robbie, who plays Barbie, wearing a black and white striped swimsuit, designed to look like the very first Barbie doll ever. Elsewhere in the clip, Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken, can be briefly seen.

Though the film won’t be released until July next year, the hysteria around the upcoming flick has been building ever since Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie were papped in matching fluro outfits filming a scene in Venice Beach.

Robbie appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in September to promote the upcoming film. During the interview, she discussed the iconic photos which show her and Gosling in matching pink and yellow outfits rollerskating in California in June.

“I can’t tell you how mortified we were, by the way,” Robbie instantly responded. “We look like we’re, like, laughing, having fun, but dying on the inside,” Robbie said of the pap pics.

She added, ‘I was like, this is the most humiliating moment of my life. Didn’t realise it was going to go everywhere.”

Margot explained that the majority of the Barbie scenes were filmed in private areas, so pap shots couldn’t leak.

“I knew that we had some exteriors to shoot in L.A. I knew, OK, once you’re doing exteriors, you’re gonna get papped. There’s probably going to be a little crowd of people who are going to take notice because, you know, the fluoro,” she said. “We stand out a little in the outfits.”

“And, so I knew there would be a little bit of attention, and probably some photos would get out there, but not like it did. It was, like, mad. It was like hundreds of people watching [while we filmed the scenes].”
